Habitat for Humanity 2009
On Saturday, May 16, 2009 the Shoreham Garden Club planted various shrubs, perennials, vegetables and herbs for Habitat for Humanity at a new home in North Bellport. We had a strong crew of garden club members that volunteered to dig holes, spread top soil, plant and mulch. The effort was spearheaded by members Pat Howley and Diana Fuchs. A special thank you to Karen Blumer who helped to design the gardens and to help guide the team on the placement of the different plant materials we had to ensure they thrived. We were all surprised at how quickly the project came together and what good team work can accomplish.
Plants were supplied by members' gardens and other donations. Charlie Thompson was gracious enough to offer to pick up the mulch and deliver it to the site.
