What should I do about a dead deer or other dead animal in the road?
Call Brookhaven Animal Control at 631-451-6950.
Animal Control Officers respond to and pick up lost and stray dogs seven days a week as well as sick and injured stray cats. If you would like to report a lost or stray dog, a sick or injured cat please call the number above. If it's an emergency and after hours, please call Public Safety at 631-451-6161.

Am I allowed to have a chicken coop in my yard?
The Village does not currently have a specific code surrounding chicken coops, but they would be recognized as accessory structures. A permit is required, and the coop would have to be located in the rear or side yard and be at least 10' from property lines. Please include a sketch with your building application. see building permits
